Imagine living in Little Kilton and trying to have a completely normal summer while your friend turns her school project into an investigation. You were expecting a few afternoons together, maybe a party, and considerably fewer conversations about somebody's alibi. Now there's a suspicious timeline in the group chat, someone wants help tracking down a stranger, and you're wondering whether you should bring snacks or ask a responsible adult to intervene.
That's part of what makes A Good Girl's Guide to Murder so easy to get caught up in. Between the interviews and discoveries, you get these very familiar moments where friends want different things from the same afternoon. One person needs answers, another needs reassurance, and somebody would really like everyone to put their phones down. Watching Pip work through a mystery is fun, but imagining how you'd fit into her circle is a whole separate question.
Maybe you'd be comparing two accounts of the same night before anyone else noticed they didn't match. Maybe you'd be the person who stays beside a friend when the conversation gets uncomfortable, without immediately turning it into a speech. You might also have a very reasonable objection to being recruited for a secret mission when you already made plans.
